How long have you been a Delaware County Red Cross Volunteer?

  6 Years

What motivated you to get involved?

It is a way to give back to society for all the privileges and opportunities it provides through the American Red Cross.

What Red Cross services do you help to provide?

I am part of the Disaster Action Team (DAT), the Damage Assessment Coordinator for Delaware , DAT Secretary at the meetings, work registration at bloodmobile drive, blood transport, United Way Community Care Day volunteer, Fundraising through selling of buckeye necklaces and potted tree seedlings.

Do you have a favorite Red Cross story?

When I went out to a fire with the Disaster Action Team one cold night in January a few years ago, I had a chance to watch the interview with a client.  As I listened and watched the despair in the eyes of a lady of her life being turned upside down as her home is in ruins, I also saw the relief that she had someone out there who cared for her and who would help her get back on her feet.  I was proud to be a part of that.

Tell us something that we might not know about you.

I have planted or potted over 5,000 tree seedlings in the past 11 years.
